Facility 4 - Lesson. 9 “Tell stories: storytelling in a book. Expert - Larisa Parfentieva (Category Writing)
I am still learning how to write books, catching up with a program that has gone a month ahead:) This lesson was about storytelling, which I actively studied on my own, but it was interesting to listen to the lesson of Larissa, who shared her experience. Previous posts are available here: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8. Going back to the lesson itself, here are the main things I learned from it: It is important to understand the purpose and motivation of writing a book - there can be personal brand development and therapy:) Whatever the purpose of the author, storytelling is a great tool for attracting attention and retaining the audience. Next, the author recalls the book “Made to Stick” ("Made to Stick") And he talks about the SUCCESs framework from it. The bottom line is that ideas stick if they fit into six categories: simplicity. (simplicit, unexpected (unexpected)specificity (concrete)credibility (credentialed)emotionality (emotional)stories (story). By the way, I'm talking about this book. told earlier Then we are talking about the structure of history, where in the simplest case we have a beginning, a start, a conflict, an intensification of the conflict, a climax, a denouement and a finale. And it is important to observe some consistency when the tension increases, the conflict intensifies and the story reaches a climax. To create interesting stories, you can use archetypal plots and here the author recalls the "Morphology of a fairy tale" by Vladimir Propp, about which I am talking. told earlier You can also use the rule of zebra and contrast – to create emotional involvement, the reader should alternate periods of tension and relaxation in the story. To create characters, you need to use bright and memorable details - this allows you to add volume to the images of the characters. To revive the characters, you can use those details and habits that you noticed in your friends. The ending of the story can be organized in different ways - leave readers at their peak or end with a conclusion. (~~fine if not tedious~~). By the way, not all stories should have a happy ending - here you can read the book "I am a legend" ("I Am Legend")about told earlier
